33rd Chili Cook Off in Ajijic

With live music, Hawaiian & belly dancers, parades and of course a lot of food, the 33rd Mexican National Chili Cook off was inaugurated this past Friday February 18th and lasted until Sunday the 20th.

Besides enjoying the great food and entertainment, people could see diverse expressions of art like painting, sculpture,crafts and actually get one of the pieces that local artists were offering.

There were 25 contestants, 7 in salsa, 8 restaurants and 10 in the home cathegory. The winners for each cathegory were Number 4, represented by Chef Glenroy Anderson, Chef Julian Martinez with a Negril-led Peach & Tamarind Island Salsa; Linda Fossi, Ken Caldwell, Barbara Sgroi with a Saucy Fossi Piccadilly Chili and Laura's Kitchen represented by Laura G. Martinez Sarabia with the dish named Mexican Delight.

The Chili Cook Off is one of the most importants events in the Lake Chapala area, a lot of people like to cook and most of us enjoys a good meal. What also makes it a true success every year, is the fact that the earnings go to different charities.  It's a fun way to help and also a good ocassion to hang out with family or friends.
