Federal, State and Municipal Governments have realized in the past 5 years that keeping the Boardwalks nice and pretty is not only good for tourism but also makes the lakeside communities very beautiful. They have been spending more than a couple million dollars in renewing the Boardwalks of the main towns around the lake and building other Boardwalks in some of the smaller villages around Lake Chapala.
Last weekend a friend of mine from Puebla, México came to spend a few days in Ajijic and I decided to make a little tour of the North side of the Lake the first day she got here.
JOCOTEPEC
We first went to Jocotepec. I love the fish sculptures on the Boardwalk. It was a Friday morning so there wasn’t too many people. There is ample parking available, you can have a soft drink and have conversation on a bench admiring the beautiful landscape. The weather turned out to be great, I was afraid that it wouldn’t be a good day because it was kind of cloudy when we were having breakfast, but suddenly the sun came out.
SAN JUAN COSALÁ
Walking through the San Juan Cosalá Boardwalk was so relaxing. I hadn’t been there before but a friend of mine told me I shouldn’t miss it if I was taking my friend on a tour. Kids were playing, having fun, and a couple of families were ready to have a BBQ on the grills that were installed there. Even a family of ducks were swimming together and a few herons resting by the boardwalk. …
